RPCGB Awarded ARC Capacity Building Grant

This week, the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham (RPCGB) was awarded $100,000 by the Appalachian Regional Commission, in partnership with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), to expand staffing capacity to better support local communities in identifying, accessing, and implementing federal funding through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), and other funding sources. This award was granted through READY LDDs, one of four tailored tracks in ARC’s capacity-building initiative READY Appalachia

This award will establish an Economic Development Fellowship program for the agency’s Economic Development Department to expand the department’s capacity to develop projects for state and federal funding for the 90 local governments in their service area. The fellowship is expected to begin in September 2023. Click here for the RPCGB Press Release
